Dustin Corn’s Take
Peyton Moore is Kennesaw State’s ninth signee of the 2017 recruiting class. Peyton is a transfer from Georgia State where he spent only one season (in which he redshirted). This will allow Peyton to have four years of eligibility at a position of need for the Owls. Peyton played his high school ball at Mill Creek, where he helped lead The Hawks to the semi-finals of the GHSA Class 6A State Championship. The first thing that stands out to me about Peyton is his hustle and determination. He doesn’t quit on plays which is evident in his pick-6 against Archer (where he drags a player 6 yards for a score), when he’s fighting through double teams, or flushing the quarterback out of the pocket. His pass rush moves will continue to develop, but I do like how he uses his hands to disengage when teams run at him. Peyton finished his senior year with double digit numbers in sacks and hurries.
Peyton performed well against the highest levels of competition in the state. Playing this level of competition should speed up the transitional period to FCS college football. Peyton is good enough to play immediately and I expect him to be in the rotation from day one. However, his potential is what has to excite the coaches the most about this signee. He brings good length to the “Rush” position, but I would expect to see him put on some size over time. I would be very intrigued to see a 250lbs Peyton Moore. I think he has the frame that could hold that weight while only increasing his athletic performance, most notably at the point of attack. This would allow him to play more physical and develop a more effective pass rush repertoire that gives opponents headaches. I’m very excited to see what Peyton brings to the 2017 Kennesaw State Owls. Welcome to The Nest!
