Dustin Corn’s Take
Dorian Walker is Kennesaw State’s seventh signee of the 2017 recruiting class. Dorian is a transfer from Georgia Tech that played his high school ball at Mt. Paran Christian. As a senior, Dorian was an integral part of leading Mt Paran Christian to a GHSA 1A State Title. While he’s coming to Kennesaw State as a defensive back, his school career was more known from his offensive production. Dorian was an explosive running back that always appeared to be the best athlete on the field. While the talent of his competition can be rightly questioned, he was still outclassing the competition during the playoffs of the state title run. Dorian rushed for over 200 yards in both the semi-final, and state championship games during his senior year. When you aren’t playing the greatest competition, you need to stand out. Dorian most certainly did.
Dorian is a mid-year transfer that should be competing for playing time immediately. Arriving in January allows him to participate in Spring Ball which will help him adjust to the defensive schemes ran by Coach Newberry. I would anticipate Dorian not only competing for playing time, but looking to lock down one of the starting cornerback spots for the 2017 football team. While I expect Dorian’s greatest attribute to the team to come on defense, I would not be surprised to see him heavily involved in special teams as a kick returner. In my opinion Dorian is an impact player for the Owls this coming football season. Welcome to The Nest!
