Dustin Corn’s Take
Adeolu Adeleke is Kennesaw State’s second signee of the 2017 recruiting class. Adeolu played high school football at Heritage HS where he helped lead The Patriots to a 6-5 overall record, and a berth to the GHSA 6A State Playoffs. Adeolu brings a different background to the a-back room as he was predominately a wide receiver in high school. His skill set of catching passes and making defenders miss in open space should be equally utilized in Kennesaw State’s triple option scheme. As fans of the program know, Kennesaw State throws the ball a little more than most triple option teams. The commitment of Adeolu makes me believe that’s a trend that is here to stay. Adeolu is more quick, than fast, but will receive favorable matchups against linebackers and safeties from the slotback position. He possesses a solid build that makes him harder to bring down than defenders expect, and is always looking for YAC after the reception.
Adeolu projects as a slotback in Kennesaw State’s offense. There may be a little bit of a learning curve from lining up as a wing, more so than a traditional slot, or out wide as a boundary receiver. He will also have to learn to block linebackers and safeties more often than he did as a WR. I think he will physically adapt to the position with little issue, and I am excited to see how much of a pass catching threat he can be as a slotback. While I anticipate a redshirt in 2017, I look forward to watching Adeolu develop over his career at KSU. Welcome to The Nest!
