Dustin Corn’s Take

Michael Sharpley is Kennesaw State’s 16th signee of the 2017 recruiting class.  Michael helped lead James Clemens HS to an 8-4 record and the second round of the AHSAA 7A playoffs.  Michael is a versatile player that lines up all over the front 7 in high school.  He’s definitely a downhill player that enjoys contact and driving quarterbacks into the turf.  He appears to be a plus athlete that can even surprise lineman with a spin move from time to time.  If Michael can continue to develop he will be terrorizing college quarterbacks in no time.

Future Impact

No team can ever have enough big bodies.  I expect Michael to end up at strongside defensive end or sliding inside to tackle before his career is done at KSU.  While he has some natural pass rush moves, he was used as a blitzer from different linebacker positions frequently in high school.  I would anticipate a redshirt in 2017 as he continues to get bigger, stronger, and more technical.  With Michael’s athletic mold and improved technique, especially utilizing his hands more, he can develop into a force on the defensive line.  Welcome to The Nest!
