Corn’s Take

Savon Simmons is Kennesaw State’s 13th signee of the 2017 recruiting class.  Savon helped lead Sandy Creek HS to an 8-4 record and the second round of the GHSA playoffs.  When watching Savon, the first thing that jumps out to me is his initial burst/punch out of his stance.  The second thing is how easily he seems to finish blocks, which indicates he’s much more powerful than expected.   Savon seems athletic enough to get to the second level when he needs, and tough enough to block down on a double team without hesitation.  Any offensive lineman with the ability to finish blocks the way Savon does will make a coaching staff very happy.  An inside lineman that possesses an absolute mean streak.

Future Impact

Savon will more than likely redshirt in the 2017 season, as the Owls return 4/5 starters from the previous year.  Savon could use this time to help improve technique as well as pad level as he adjusts to competition at the FCS level.  Savon had absolutely zero issues finishing blocks in high school, and will be even scarier once he’s added size and strength in the Owl’s strength and conditioning program.  He projects as an absolutely violent guard and I can’t wait to see how he develops.  Welcome to The Nest!
