Brian Bohannon Is the New Head Coach!

Rapid Reaction

After the long wait (relatively!) for the announcement, it’s official, Brian Bohannon is the new man in charge. If there’s one thing I can say, it’s that this is certainly not a sexy pick. Bohannon has been on the radar for awhile, but he seemed to be the pick that most people, including myself, had glanced over but not seriously considered. David Dean, Andy McCollum and Chris Hatcher were the guys towards the front of the radar, but apparently Director of Athletics Vaughn Williams felt Bohannon is the man for the job.

Bohannon was a wide receiver at the University of Georgia in the early 90’s and has been an assistant since 1996 at Gardner-Webb, Georgia Southern, Navy and most recently Georgia Tech. Since 1997 he has followed current Georgia Tech Head Coach Paul Johnson around at each of his stops.

He will certainly have a head start in recruiting the state of Georgia, which is what Williams wanted in his first hire.

The Owl Howl team will be working on analyzing the move and what Bohannon can bring to the table. We should have something up by tomorrow night at the latest!

In the mean time, feel free to comment on this article with your thoughts on the move or visit our message boards. All opinions are welcome!

Of course he’ll bring the triple option. Just look at his previous jobs at Navy, Ga Southern, and Tech. All triple option teams…

I do not believe he will install the triple option at KSU. There will be some form of it in the running offense, but if he is smart, which he obviously is, Coach Bohannon will run a balanced offense, based on recruiting.

I could see a small form of the option offense working. But we have to be less predictable than Tech is. Using the triple option the base offense will be painful watch.

Love it, Just read this from ajc.com, “Bohannon said he will bring some elements of the option offense that Johnson has preferred, but will also use some elements of the pistol and shotgun formations used by the Redskins and 49ers in the NFL. Bohannon said he will hire an offensive coordinator to call the plays.”

Please leave that awful triple option at Tech! Let’s start our on tradition here, instead of carrying over hand me downs!
