Kennesaw State Baseball has gotten a commitment from Wheeler HS RHP Gage Vailes (2019).
Gage tells me “I chose Kennasaw because I have only heard great things about the coaching staff and the team and when I went on a visit it met every standard I had. Kennesaw State is a winning baseball program and has a chance to win a national championship every year and I want to be a part of that.”
When I asked Gage if the location of the school played into his commitment: “Maybe a little, but really just got lucky there was such a good program so close to home.”
Perfect Game: “Gage Vailes is a 2019 RHP/3B/SS with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from Marietta, GA who attends Wheeler HS. Long and lean build, very athletic look, lots of physical projection. Good lower half turn in his delivery, accelerates hard to the plate from a good balance point over the rubber, effort at release that can be toned down, tends to rush down the mound. Fastball topped out at 89 mph, much more effective working mid-80’s and spotting the ball. Same results with curveball, gets good depth and spin when not overthrowing. Arm strength is there to grow into with patience.”
